IceLink’s Big Snow Collection

It is difficult to compare IceLink to any other brand; the company’s collections are truly distinct from anything else out there. This is perhaps because the brand’s President, Andy Sogoyan, started his watch brand from a totally different perspective. “I decided to enter the watchmaking world with the eye of a jeweller. Every design, every creation, has to be seen as a jewel before a watch,” Sogoyan explains. “The idea was to propose imposing and unconventional pieces that people are proud to wear. In fact, it’s neither a watch nor a jewel; it’s a ‘gem-watch’. It’s the expression and fusion of L.A. eccentricity and extravagance on the outside, and Swiss Made on the inside.”

BIG SNOW


Although IceLink has 25 years of jewellery experience, the company is relatively new to the watch industry. The first collection, the 6Timezone, was launched only 12 months ago during BaselWorld 2007. This unconventional timepiece, with its six individual time zones aligned two by two in a rectangular case, has become the signature collection of the brand and has already been a huge success. “We have been opening markets, one after the other. We are doing fantastically well in Russia and the Middle East and we have strong partners in Luxembourg, France and Geneva, where we have also set up our international headquarters,” says Sogoyan.
The latest edition to the 6Timezone line is the Big Snow Collection. Inspired by Swiss winters, this new timepiece features six different zones: four to indicate the hour in different time zones, one to show the power reserve and a sixth one filled with a flurry of snow. This sixth zone is filled with a secret liquid called IceFuel© in which dozens of floating diamonds are suspended to resemble snow. The collection is available in pink gold and white gold and in two different sizes.
There is no doubt that diamonds watches are becoming increasingly popular and people are losing their inhibitions when it comes to wearing big, gem-set watches. “We have observed, among international and young clientele, new behaviours and emerging talents,” shares Sogoyan. “People who like to live their life at full speed and enjoy every second of their time. It’s a lifestyle built around excessive spending and ostentation equally for men as for women.”
