Ahead of a busy week of watch exhibitions in Geneva, the Geneva Time Exhibition (GTE) opened its doors yesterday. On the opening day, the Fleurier Watch Company presented the Arcadia Vintage 23. The collection consists of six skeletonised masterpieces that will be hand made over the coming two years.

The watches will use the legendary Valjoux 23 column-wheel chronograph movement with hand-blued screws that has been engraved, polished and angled to give an exquisite finish, visible through a transparent sapphire crystal front and back.

In fact, other than the sapphire crystals and the 18-carat rose gold case, there is no visible fixing on the case. The sapphire crystal on the dial side has been metallised on its underside to give the illusion of a ring, but on both sides of the case the sapphire crystal actually fits flush with the case middle.

Arcadia is also working on its own in-house movement, a 14-line manually wound movement that is due to be presented later this year.
