For the first time ever, Bulgari presented and displayed a recently acquired eight-piece collection of Bulgari jewels that originally belonged to glamour icon Elizabeth Taylor. The unveiling held during a Roman-themed evening, presented to pay homage to both glamorous 1960s Rome and Bulgari’s Italian heritage.

The display, which has been housed in the new Bulgari Beverly Hills boutique, included pieces Taylor obtained and wore during various momentous times of her life, from her filming of Cleopatra and romance with Richard Burton to her many film and philanthropic award nominations and wins. The collection includes Taylor’s first piece of Bulgari jewelry, an emerald and diamond En Tremblant brooch; the “Cleopatra Mirror,” a gold and turquoise encrusted mirror commissioned for Taylor, rumored to have been a gift for her 30th birthday; the “Taylor Burton fiancée ring;” a diamond brooch with a 23.44 octagonal step-cut diamond; an emerald and diamond necklace; a platinum sautoir with diamonds and sapphires; a Trombino ring that Taylor bought to compliment the platinum sautoir; and, lastly, one of Taylor’s most frequently worn pieces - a diamond and gold sautoir set with six ancient Roman coins.

The setting of the event, in Los Angeles the week prior to the Oscars, has been marvelously designed to evoke 1960s Rome, when international movie stars flocked to the Eternal City to celebrate everything Italian, embracing indulgence and hedonism. Guests have been able to experience this nostalgic Roman moment set in the heart of contemporary Los Angeles. Many important celebrities attended the event, such as: Julianne Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Drew Barrymore, Naomi Watts, Gale Harold III, Kate Walsh, Marisa Tomei. Julianne Moore wore the Elizabeth Taylor emerald necklace (set with 16 Colombian octagonal step-cut emeralds for a total estimated weight of 60.5 carats) featuring a central pendent element (23.44 carats) that may be detached and worn as a brooch. This was the very first time anybody had the honor of wearing such a masterpiece after Elizabeth Taylor.
