Louis Moinet has invented the Derrick Tourbillon, a watch for those for whom the magical dance of a tourbillon does not provide sufficient diversion. This strictly limited edition of 12 pieces couples a 15-second mechanical animation of an oil derrick with Louis Moinet’s 60-second tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

The manually-wound tourbillon movement, which operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and has a 72-hour power reserve, is encased in a 47mm 18-carat white-gold case and surrounded, appropriately, by a petrol blue dial decorated with the brand’s trademark Côtes du Jura pattern.

The view through the transparent case back is equally captivating, with the tentacles of the ingenious “octopus spring” radiating out from the central screw and regulating the pull-out piece, the lever and the click.
