The COLVMBVS by Charriol embodies the values of discovery and entrepreneurship. Those are the same exact values that brought Christopher Columbus to India, err make that America. The good news is that this watchmaker is much more precise than Columbus ever was.

The sailing spirit has been captured vary well in these ETA quartz-powered timepieces, albeit within a more elegant overall package. Once again, we see similar sea-faring motifs that are consistent throughout the COLVMBVS collection.

The crown winder, for example, takes the shape of a clevis, a motif borrowed from the rigging of sailboats. The modestly sized 30mm stainless steel case also demonstrates a bit of extra details upon closer inspection, embellished with an interlocking triangular pattern that recalls the points of a compass rose.

What’s different in this edition of the timepiece is the bright prune azuré dial adorned with 12 sparkling diamonds. The brand logo at 12 o’clock, a date display at 3 o’clock and a matching leather strap finish the elegant look.

For those looking for a bit more chic in their nautical inspired watches, there is also a more blinged-up take the same watch. That variant comes completed with a sparkling bezel set with no less than 50 white diamonds. If the colour of the royal-looking dial weren’t enough, the gems will surely add a bit more flash wardrobe.

That, of course, will come at a price. The latter option, which boasts 1.12cts of diamonds, will set back customers 4’990 CHF. The ‘base’ model, on the other hand, costs less than a third of the price, give its weight of only 0.06cts of diamonds.
