The Schaffhausen-based watchmaker gets down to the essence of design with a minimalist fumé dial that emphasizes the visual impact of the tourbillon.

No logo and no indices. If I hadn’t been familiar with the aesthetic of H. Moser & Cie watches, I might have had some difficulty to recognize from what manufacture this timepiece actually came from. And that’s precisely what I like about it.

It’s not that long ago that what people wore wasn’t a statement of brand loyalty. In fact, many clothes and accessories did not have any kind of logo on the outside to communicate their consumerist allegiances.

But these days, purchases, especially those of the luxury variety, are a means by which to communicate status and style. Logos and unique branding are one way to accomplish that.

The Endeavour Tourbillon Concept watch by H. Moser & Cie is a move in the opposite direction. Only the essence of watch design remains, with an elegant dial that shares the attention with the complex mechanism beating within.

The refined simplicity of the watch can be reduced to the pared-down funky blue fumé dial, which we’ve seen previously by the brand in their Concept style. The dial does not sport the brand logo nor any other markings, resulting in a very pure look.

Positioned at 6 o’clock is the eye-catching flying tourbillon. The technical feature also provides the necessary colour contrast to the dial, as it appears to float on top of it.

Hidden is the rest of the elegant movement, the manufacture’s latest accomplishment in the form of the HMC 804 automatic caliber. Boasting a three-day power reserve, it also features an 18-carat solid red gold oscillating weight that can be appreciated through the exhibition case back.

The strength of the new Endeavour Tourbillon Concept is that it puts the spotlight solely on the product, which speaks for it self.

The drawback, however, is that the watch is released in a very limited edition of only 20 pieces, meaning that only a rare few will be able to afford such a pure expression of timekeeping.
