Part of the popular Avenue Collection, this ladies’ watch is true to the brand’s Art Deco styling while also delivering one of the smallest movements with a moon phase complication on the market today.

Size isn’t everything with Harry Winston. Despite the fact that the brand calls one of the biggest and boldest cities of the world its home, the Avenue C Mini Moon Phase doesn’t really follow the American attitude of “go big or go home”.

When the brand was founded back in 1932, its creations did a fair bit to shift the high jewelry spotlight away from Paris and toward New York. The house became a symbol of American glamour, and part of that entailed producing some delicate and intricate timepieces.

And in this case of this model of the Avenue C, bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. In fact, miniaturization of watch components is quite a technical feat itself, which is demonstrated nicely with this ladies’ watch.

To incorporate this complication into a relatively small case, Harry Winston’s Swiss watchmakers kept the size and height of the HW5101 movement to a minimum. As a result, the lean and elegant profile of the watch is maintained.

Consequently, this is one of the smallest movements with a moon phase complication on the market today.

Named after New York’s Fifth Avenue, home to the brand’s flagship salon, the watch also recalls the designs of the Art Deco period for which the brand is known for, especially with its ladies’ timepieces.

The watch’s elongated 18-karat white gold rectangular case is set with 47 brilliant-cut diamonds, with its proportions evoking a miniature skyscraper at night. If that ice wasn’t enough, the case is also embellished with a truncated diamond on its crown.

The white mother-of-pearl canvas provides the backdrop to the vintage typography used for the numerals, as well as the minute track that adds to the overall Art Deco mood.

Within the minute track you will notice a series of engraved floral motifs emanating from the center of the dial, which reveal the small, crescent-shaped aperture for the mini moonphase complication.

The Avenue C Mini Moon Phase is available in 18-karat white and rose gold cases that measure roughly 15mm by 32mm, and are paired nicely with an alligator leather strap with a fine pearl finish. To cap it all off, even the new buckle is made from 18-karat gold and is set with six brilliant-cut diamonds.
