The American luxury house presents a new high jewelry timepiece that features leaves of diamonds on a flexible gold trellis, a motif inspired by nature and the legendary creations of the late Ambaji Shinde.

It’s back to the fundamentals for Harry Winston with the new Mini Twist, and fundamentals in this case means diamonds, and many of them. But this time around, we get diamonds with a twist.

This new Mini Twist is inspired by the design legacy of one Ambaji V. Shinde. Now, you might be asking “Who was he?”

Shinde met Harry Winston in Bombay, India back in 1955, and the latter was so impressed with him that he offered Shinde the post of head of design at the American luxury house. The two men apparently had a certain understanding, and together they were responsible for some of the brand’s most iconic creations.

Part of the late Shinde’s legacy includes pieces featuring marquise and brilliant-cut diamonds set in twisted gold cables, reminiscent of the lush vegetation in his native India. Those same design elements are every much present again here.

The Mini Twist is meant to mimic leaves that climb a vine, but in this case that vine takes the shape of a flexible 18-karat gold chain. When taking a closer look, it can be seen that the leaves are set with three brilliant-cut diamonds each, fastened in a precise way so as to not show any trace of metal between the leaves.

Instead of placing stones in visible settings, they have been “freed” by allowing their light and shape to determine where they are placed. That ends up determining the design of the piece to a certain extent, and the result is a fluid and flowing high jewelry creation.

The diamonds wind their way around the entirety of the Mini Twist. The dial itself is fully-set with no less than 71 brilliant-cut stones and is framed by radiant-cut bezel set diamonds and larger brilliant-cut diamonds.

The length of the bracelet – which itself contains 86 brillant-cut diamonds - can also be adjusted without visiting a jeweler thanks to a circular-shaped gold clasp at the end of the bracelet that can be opened and closed to change the length, ensuring a good fit on the wrist.
