Introducing Maurice de Mauriac's new deep red diver's watch

The independent brand presents its new diver’s watch, the L2 Red Sea, limited to 42 units globally. Massimo and Leonard Dreifuss, representing the new generation at the helm of the brand, rely on purity and Bauhaus charm for this creation.

T

he Zurich watch manufacturer Maurice de Mauriac opens a new chapter of its history with its new diver’s watch L2 Red Sea, limited to only 42 units. The timepiece, sporting the brand’s recognizable red saphire crystal, also serves to make a contribution to preserve the ecosystem of the Mediterranean sea.

Simplicity is key: Massimo and Leonard Dreifuss rely on purity, and have reduced Bauhaus charm for this creation, developed with the designer Fabian Schwaerzler. “It’s extremely intense, it goes deep,” say the two brothers and successors of brand founder Daniel Dreifuss.

The watch has a passionate ambassador: award-winning free diver Zoe Moore. The protection and preservation of the water ecosystem is of great concern to her: the watches brand will donate 10 per cent of the sales price directly to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, which is committed to this cause. “Exactly 42 people worldwide will not only be wearing a special watch with the L2 Red Sea,” says Massimo Dreifuss. “They will also be doing something for our planet.”

The L2 is a diver’s watch that can withstand great pressure under water. On land it entices as an eye-catcher. The 316L stainless steel of the case with the diamond-like carbon coating reflects the light with sovereign hardness.

The ETA 2824-2 movement is highly reliable, the design by Fabian Schwaerzler is imbued with the values of the Bauhaus.

As for the red watch crystal, it makes this watch a minimalistic yet powerful statement piece.
