Europa Star - 83 years of international partnership in the global watch world.

Europa Star History
Europa Star dates back in the 1920s. Hugo Buchser was at that time a young and enthusiastic entrepreneur, with a passion for watches. He launched a guide for watch buyers which soon became an essential tool for the entire watch industry. A seasoned traveller and globetrotter, he voyaged around the world, creating a network of magazines which would promote the watch industry worldwide.

The first series of magazines were created in Brazil and Argentina, and soon magazines sprouted up in English, German, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Thai, Chinese and Cyrillic.

At the beginning of the 1950s these different magazines were grouped under the name Europa Star and a variety of international editions were launched. Europa Star soon became the number one leader of the watch industry's specialized press.

Under the leadership of Gilbert Maillard who became President of Hugo Buchser SA in 1962, the expansion of the magazines was extraordinary. The revolution brought on by Europa Star in the specialized Swiss watch industry press was phenomenal.

In 1996, Europa Star became part of the multinational group Miller Freeman, now The Nielsen Company, the world's leading provider of marketing information, audience measurement, and business media products and services. (www.nielsen.com)
