Fossil inks deal with Diesel; discusses partnership with Guess

September 2005

Fossil announced a licensing deal that will give the company exclusive rights to manufacture, market and distribute jewelry for fashion denim designer Diesel.

The Diesel agreement strengthens an existing partnership between Fossil and Diesel, which started in 1999 when watch brand began producing the fashion house's watches. Aimed at young, cutting-edge consumers, the new jewelry collection would contain 80 pieces priced from $35 to $700. The companies plans to launch the collection in 2006 at BaselWorld.

In a separate announcement, Fossil revealed it has entered into advance negotiations with Guess Inc. to manufacture that company's watch collection starting in 2007. Guess currently had a deal with Timex subsidiary Callanen for the production of its watches.

Under the proposed Guess agreement, Fossil would create a separate company for the Guess business and would expand the global distribution of Guess and Guess Collection watches. Current worldwide sales of Guess watches total about $150 million.
