Records for EPHJ Show and successful launch of EPMT Show

October 2007

The sixth Professional Environment of Watchmaking - Jewelry (EPHJ) Show, held at the Beaulieu Exhibition and Conference Centre in Lausanne, set new records. 340 exhibitors, including 58 from outside Switzerland, presented their products and expertise at the international show. The event, held from 5 to 8 June, was attended by 5315 visitors, a 24% increase over 2006.
As for the new Professional Microtechnology Environment Show (EPMT), this recorded the same number of exhibitors but nearly twice as many visitors (2772) as the first EPHJ Show: a fine result. And the synergies anticipated between the two shows EPHJ and EPMT worked out very satisfactorily, as a large number of visitors went from one to the other. Also worthy of note was the success of the first scientific symposium Micronarc, held within the EPMT show, with conferences organised by EPFL and FSRM (Swiss Foundation for Research in Microtechnology).

The four days of the EPHJ Show were a hive of activity, with ever-increasing numbers of visitors. Attracted by the extreme diversity of the range of products displayed, they greatly appreciated the fact that this was an entirely professional show, held in an airy setting and an atmosphere of great conviviality, all favourable aspects for holding discussions and doing business.

The exhibitors appreciated the very high quality of the visitors, who came to the show with the very specific aim of finding solutions and suppliers; a large majority of these clients were decision-makers, which made the discussions very fruitful.

Since its creation five years ago the EPHJ show has established itself as the annual meeting for the entire professional watchmaking and jewelry world with its multitude of clients from brands, from finished products and other professionals in the industry.

Encouraged by these success and dynamics and the fact that watchmaking is the mother of the microtechnologies, the organisers this year launched another show, parallel to EPHJ, devoted to the professional microtechnology environment (EPMT), from the domains of aerospace and photonics to medicine, robotics, metrology and other domains where precision and miniaturisation come into play.
This first EPMT show brought together 93 exhibitors, mostly from Switzerland but also from France, Italy, Germany and Holland. It attracted 2772 visitors from the industry who were very pleased to find such a large number of current and potential suppliers under one roof. And many visitors who were waiting to see how this first show went have already expressed their interest in coming to exhibit next year. In a domain such as microtechnology where there are constant developments and innovations, it is of course essential to hold this show annually in parallel with the EPHJ Show. Future dates for the two shows: 3 to 6 June 2008, 12 to 15 May 2009, 8 to 11 June 2010.
