Ambiente, the world’s largest consumer goods trade fair, recently took place in Frankfurt, Germany. On the occasion of this important event, Dr. Rido Busse, initiator of the Plagiarius campaign, was present at the press conference as he has been for the past 32 years. He was there to name and blame the world’s most impudent falsifiers with the negative prize - the black gnome with a golden nose trophy.

A competent jury nominated product copies and fakes from China to Europe, but this year’s prize was awarded to an unknown Chinese company for its copy of the Fortis B-42 Official Cosmonauts Chronograph. The company did not hesitate to use the registered trademark ‘Fortis’ with the crown logo on the dial to gain authenticity.
“Product piracy and imitation cannot be regarded a gentleman’s offence and cause serious economical damage,” explained this year's speaker, FDP Chairman Dr. Guido Westerwelle, who spoke about the changes needed in the public’s consciousness towards the acquisition of assumed bargains.
