Favre-Leuba is nominated for the Grand Prix Romand de la Création

July 2008

One of Switzerland's most prestigious creative advertising awards has nominated the media-teasing project from the watchmaker Favre-Leuba. This is a great honor for Favre-Leuba, whose advertising campaigns are consistently innovative and daring.

The Swiss advertising world, just like in cinema, has its own Academy Awards: the Grand Prix Romand de la Création, which awards trophies, the prestigious “Grands”, to particularly effective, creative and original advertising campaigns.

Favre-Leuba and the Darwel agency enjoyed the privilege of being on the honours list for this year's event, which took place on 28 May in the presence of the cream of the Swiss advertising world. Fave-Leuba's online campaign won over the jury, who first shortlisted and then nominated the project, which was recognised for its originality as well as the quality of its technical production.

Launched in the advent of Baselworld, the world's largest watchmaking show, this campaign celebrates the start of a jubilee year: the first Favre timepiece was created in 1718, and the brand now boasts 290 proud years of passionate watchmaking behind it. The challenge of this campaign was also to make a link spanning almost 300-years to the present day, one which would show the worldwide media the rich history and the beautiful products, old and new, of this eminent watchmaking firm.

The advertising campaign takes the form of little stories, which lead on from each other. With archive documents, photographs of watches of the past, a presentation of the company as it is today and its ambitions for the future, the flash animations, which greet the visitor give way to a wealth of information on a brand spanning centuries!
