Mondaine breaks ground for new factory

September 2008

Mondaine Watch brand has broken ground in the building of its all-new state-of-the-art watch factory in Biberist, near its current facility in Solothurn, Switzerland.

In early August, the bulldozers scraped the surface on the site where the huge machines will drill close to 200 pillars 17 meters into the ground for the solid base of the new factory.

The new workshops will be four times the size of the current plant, and will open in early 2009, if all goes according to plan. Assembly of the Mondaine brand, Luminox and Camel, as well as private label watches, will take place in a “clean room” built according to strict codes. Additionally, assembly of parts such as dials, hands LLT (Luminox Light Tubes) and other components will take place at this factory. Quality Control of parts and final product, storage of POP materials, displays and other products will also be in this building, as will distribution of watches, jewelry and materials to all international markets.
