max bill by junghans - Wristwatches in the tradition of concrete art

March 2010

www.worldwatchweb.com - The Swiss artist, architect and designer Max Bill was one of the key exponents of the Zurich school of concrete. In the 1960s he developed a plain, modern dial design for wristwatches in collaboration with Junghans. Today, it is still produced by Junghans in practically unaltered form.

The collection with this design classic is being expanded in 2010 in keeping with the principles of the Bauhaus pupil and acclaimed artist: art should be independent in its style, be based upon mathematical/geometrical foundations and characterised by constructive clarity and precise proportions.

Three new mechanical models are being presented. All three watches – the hand-wound model, the automatic model and the Chronoscope – display aesthetic, reduced dials and the typical, flat case design.
