Christophe Claret - New DualTow NightEagle

October 2010

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Christophe Claret Manufacture, the watchmaker, who creates and produces grand complication movements for the most famous names of the Swiss watch industry, launched a timepiece in 2009 that marked a watershed in company history.

Christened DualTow, the single-pusher planetary-gear chronograph and tourbillon model, embodies a concentrated blend of technical excellence and aesthetic research. The major innovation of this watch issued in a limited series of 68 watches, all unique and customisable, lies first and foremost in its patented single-pusher chronograph function operating by means of three planetary-gears.

Its unusual belt-type display of the hours and minutes also lends it a high-tech and sophisticated face that matches the innovative and provocative style of the CC20A movement, whose gong strikes each time the chronograph pusher is activated.

The new version, NightEagle, finds its inspiration in the ultra-secret world of stealth aircraft such as the American F-117 Night Hawk, reflected in the taut lines, sharp angles, tone-on-tone colours and transparency effects. On the upper part of the movement, three tinted sapphire bridges form a kind of stealth-type dial, produced in the workshops of the Manufacture.

The rectangular, convex black PVD-coated titanium case, also entirely machined in-house, is equipped by mobile spring-mounted lugs, which adapt perfectly to the wearer’s wrist. Although it has the look and feel of rubber, the strap is in fact in leather. It is equipped with an exclusive adjustable clasp, enabling the wearer to extend it easily by as much as one centimetre.
