Corum has associated with Banque Populaire – a major player in the sailing world – in supporting one of the most sought-after nautical challenges: the Trophée Jules Verne.
As Official Timekeeper of this prestigious round-the-world race and to honour its partnership, Corum presents a dedicated watch. Within this context, the brand has naturally chosen a model from its Admiral’s Cup collection – which has been delighting sailing devotees and enthusiasts since 1960 – equipped with a chronograph function.

If the team manages to better the existing record, Corum will reward each member of the Maxi Trimaran Banque Populaire V crew with a watch from this special edition, personalised with his name. The 14 crew members are thus engaged in the round-the-world race not only to carry off the Trophy, but also to win a Corum watch.
Watching the weather forecasts closely for the past few days, Loïck Peyron and his men have decided to take advantage of the front that now stretches between Ireland and Portugal, taking a departure opportunity that they had been waiting for for the past month.
By crossing the virtual start line between Ushant and the Lizard Point at 09h31min42s on Tuesday 22nd, the Maxi Banque Populaire V started it second attempt at the Jules Verne Trophy.
"Light" for the warm-up, weather conditions should quickly gain in intensity in the Bay of Biscay, thus plunging the fourteen sailors directly at the heart of their oceanic subject. The stopwatch is on, along with a great adventure.

Heading first to the Equator and then to South Africa, Maxi Banque Populaire V will then sail downwind to begin its journey around the world. Ahead lies a 21,760 miles challenge and a loop around the three Capes - Good Hope, Lizard and Horn. To have their names engraved on the prestigious Jules Verne Trophy and enter the history books of offshore racing, Loïck Peyron and his men will have to stop the WSSRC* timer before Monday 9th January 2012 at 17:15.34.
