Starting first in the No.24 car, Mr Hayek President & CEO of Blancpain, was running strongly and after one hour was in 9th position overall. He engaged in a four-way battle the Lamborghini was struck from behind by the Nissan GTR GT3 with just one hour of the race distance completed.

It was an unhappy ending to the race for Mr Hayek who partnered Dutchman Kox to victory in the PRO-AM class and fourth place overall in the previous round at Silverstone.

“It was not Marc’s fault at all. It was a mistake by another car which caused the end of our race and that is very upsetting,” Kox said. “We were not very strong in Qualifying but we had a very good race pace and we were confident that we could have a good result today for sure.”

A visit to the pit box, timekeeping and race control and Lamborghini VIP laps of the Le Castellet circuit were all part of the journey of discovery.
