This past weekend Blancpain and Automobili Lamborghini Japan held a luxurious event together at Cité du Temps Ginza in Tokyo to celebrate the first Super Trofeo Asia event in Japan, at the Fuji Speedway, where both brands presented a new product.

Blancpain presented their L-evolution Split Seconds Flyback Chronograph, which combines technology with style, inspired by the world of motorsport. Lamborghini presented the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, which is the new top model in the Gallardo lineup based on the successful race car from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race, the world’s fastest single-make series. Its production will be limited to 150 units.

Mr. Alain Delamuraz, Vice President and Head of Marketing of Blancpain said, “The L-evolution Split Seconds Flyback Chronograph was inspired by our involvement in the Motorsport world, represents the capacity of our watchmakers to always innovate without forgetting the Swiss matchmaking art.”

Eginardo Bertoli, Country Manager of Lamborghini Japan stated, “Super Trofeo Stradale is the most extreme Gallardo ever, bringing motor racing excitement directly to the road inspired and designed by the ultimate ferocity and excitement of the Super Trofeo Race, the world’s fastest single-make series.”

The new Blancpain timepiece uses a brushed white or red-gold 43mm case with a carbon fibre bezel, caseback and dial. In addition to the use of carbon fibre, further nods to the world of motorsport include the LCD-style font of the date display, the red accents on the black dial and the split-second pusher at 8 o’clock, which resembles a fuel filler cap.

At the heart of this new model beats the self-winding Calibre 69F9 with its 409 parts including 44 jewels, ensuring a 40-hour power reserve. It is equipped with a column wheel that guarantees precise pusher control, as well as a vertical coupling-clutch that avoids any unwanted jerking of the hand when the chronograph is activated. This movement combines a flyback split-second chronograph mechanism with a large twin-aperture date display. When the split-second function is activated via the pusher at 8 o’clock, the hand stops to enable reading of a split time, while the sweep seconds hand continues running. A second press on the pusher enables the split-second hand to “catch up with” the sweep seconds hand. The movement can be admired through a transparent sapphire crystal case back.

More carbon fibre is found in the strap, with carbon fibre inserts used in the black alcantara strap, and the buckle, which also has a carbon fibre insert.
