Eberhard & Co. most certainly couldn’t slight the arrival in Switzerland of one of its most popular fans, and wanted to celebrate the beginning of his new professional challenge with a very special welcome gift.

To mark this special moment, the Bienne Company presented Gennaro Gattuso, best known by football fans as “Rino”, with a precious timepiece: the chronograph “Extra-fort Roue à Colonnes Grande Date 125ème Anniversaire” dedicated to the 2012 brand anniversary: 125 years of history devoted to constant innovation, research, attention to details and style.

The career of “Ringhio" (Growl), so nicknamed thanks to his unwavering tenacity, has shown an impressively steady performance throughout the years and championships, always the leader, both for his teammates and the supporters. During his thirteen years as midfielder in the celebrated Milan Football Club and several National Team appearances, he scored it all – Italian Champion and European Champion twice, World Champion at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Now he makes his triumphal entry in the Swiss Championship with the Sion club, home team of the Valais capitol. Team captain from the very beginning thanks to his leading skills, the player is driving the Sion rise to success: after eight matches, with a total of five victories and one draw, Rino Gattuso’s Sion is third in the Swiss championship ranking, arousing large interest and admiration. Two rich and attractive stories that cross thanks to a shared passion for the world of watches, as the champion has always been a lover of precious timepieces: in a recent interview he declared that, while in the past his choices were based on brand and aesthetics, now he tends to privilege mechanical features. This is the reason why today Eberhard & Co. is his “wrist choice”.

The Extra-fort presented to Rino Gattuso is the celebrative model of the brand’s 125th anniversary and it is realized in a limited series - 500 pieces for the steel version and 125 for the more precious gold version –. The champion wears the number 8 of the gold version, the same magical number of his jersey.

Extra-fort Roue à Colonnes Grande Date 125ème is a chronograph with a special technical value that lies in the column wheel controlling the chronographic functions of the automatic mechanism, a perfect match to its aesthetic refinement.

Characterised by elegant and shapely lines, the 41 mm case is proposed with a silver or black dial, featuring the Arabic numerals 1, 2 and 5 that represent 125 years of prestigious tradition and a never-ending passion for the universe of “time”. The Eberhard & Co. dedicated logo on the dial is an additional celebratory mark.
