For the first time, India will host the Rolex Awards for Enterprise, with two days of activities in November celebrating the 2012 Laureates and their groundbreaking projects.

The presentation of Rolex Awards to the five Laureates – Sergei Bereznuk (Russia), Barbara Block (United States), Erika Cuéllar (Bolivia), Mark Kendall, (Australia) and Aggrey Otieno (Kenya) – before an audience of leaders and innovators from all over the world, will be the highlight of events in India showcasing Rolex’s support for pioneers who are making the world a better place.

Each of the five Laureates, whose names were released earlier this year, will receive 100,000 Swiss francs and a Rolex chronometer at a ceremony on 27 November in New Delhi. The master of ceremonies will be celebrated Indian director Mira Nair, who, in 2004-2005, was film mentor in the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.

On 26 November, more than 200 talented young people from universities and technical institutes, NGOs and the business sector have been invited to participate in the Rolex Leadership Forum at the New Delhi Municipal Convention Center. Four former members of the Rolex Awards Jury will lead what is expected to be a lively debate on the challenges of leadership in the 21st century, particularly for young people. There will also be a special address by technology entrepreneur Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of technology giant Infosys.

A video with highlights of both the ceremony and the forum will be available on the website shortly after the events.

Among the special guests in New Delhi will be past Laureates from India and neighbouring countries, Indian members of the Rolex Awards Jury and other distinguished guests.

Previous Rolex Awards presentations have been held in Geneva and Lausanne in Switzerland, and in New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Paris and Dubai.
