First Luxury Diver’s Watch for New British Watch Company OceanArc [Video]

July 2013

The stunning diver’s watch has all the expected features of a high-end water sports watch coupled with a unique and unusual design crafted for those who seek a one-off timepiece for an extreme purpose. The quintessentially British Series One reflects the passions of designer Kevin Lambert, who combined his love of unique watches with his passion for form and function to create a dive watch he himself would wear. A robust Swiss automatic movement (ETA 2824) is housed within a black DLC (diamond-like coating), stainless steel case fitted with tough anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass. The resulting watch is intended not just for experienced divers, but for lovers of all water-sports, whether it be sailing or spear fishing, kayaking or kite surfing.

Kevin Lambert said, “I have been a watch enthusiast for many years. I decided to combine my love of watches with my skills, and design from scratch the dive watch I would want to wear. My design premise was simple, the watch must be complex in its design, with many fine details. It must stand out from the crowd and be instantly recognisable. I decided to use various colours of the Super luminova compound on these main features, so that even in the dark the Series One will shine out. I think we have created something truly special.”

The Series One is aesthetically distinctive and can not be mistaken for any other watch on the market; the large luminous hands conform to a strong mythical, aquatic theme, with tridents and cresting waves signifying the time in a simple, iconic way. The OceanArc logo, Super Luminova-coated markings and the black ‘stingray’ leather strap ensure that this watch stands out from the crowd and is easy to read, even when at its maximum level of water resistance, 500m. Screw-in strap lugs offer increased protection and security for divers; a vital consideration when pursuing an active lifestyle.

As part of their product launch, OceanArc will provide a Ted Su rubber diving strap with the Series One watch. A hugely respected name within the diving community, Ted Su straps have won numerous awards for their durability and hardwearing design. Their unique clasp design is also DLC coated for a robust and attractive finish, and it has been customised with the Oceanarc cresting wave logo, which adorns the seconds hand.
