Hosted by the acclaimed par-73 Blackstone Course at the Mission Hills Resort in Haikou, China, “The Match at Mission Hills“ saw Omega ambassador and golf sensation, Rory McIlroy, defeat world number one Tiger Woods by a single stroke in the unique head-to-head exhibition match on 28 October. This is the second straight year that these two great golfers have faced each other in this high-profile showdown.

Having won five tournaments this year, Woods seemed to have momentum on his side going into the 18-hole match, but the PGA Player of the Year was defeated by the Northern Irishman. McIlroy’s sixunder-par 67 was enough to claim victory over Woods, who finished five under par.

McIlroy reflected on the event and his win, saying: “Obviously, any time I’m on the golf course with Tiger, I know that I have my work cut out for me. This was a really enjoyable event with an unusual format and I’m happy to have been able to repeat last year’s result.” He added, “It wasn’t surprising that Tiger was playing extremely well. It was great to beat the game’s best player.”
