The Swiss watchmaker provides us with a unique perspective on the world with its latest timepiece dedicated to the perpetual traveler.

Vacheron Constantin's new Overseas world time

Vacheron Constantin made some big revelations earlier this year at SIHH 2016 in Geneva, Switzerland. They presented the new Overseas collection which featured newly designed looks, new manufacture calibres – including a chrono and a nice perpetual calendar - and even some improvements to their watch straps.

With the new additions, the brand looks all set to make its Overseas collection one of its most popular ones to date. Looking at the new World Time model – which will be delivered for the first time this summer – it’s pretty clear why the Overseas collection is one of the strongest on the market today.

Priced at around $37,000 the new World Time, the watch displays no less than 37 time zones, including those that are off-set by a half-hour or quarter-hour. So you basically pay about $1,000 per time zone.

You’re also paying for a stunning new, tree-tier dial. Dials on world timer models tend to be cluttered and even confusing, but not so here.

The centre features a “Lambert” projection map depicting the continents, oceans and a translucent lacquered disc bearing city names. A sapphire disc laid over the map provides day/night indications by subtly graded smoky tints. Finally, a translucent lacquered velvet-finished outer ring serves to indicate the time.

The watch is nicely packaged in a well-proportioned 43.5 mm-diameter, and is powered by the impressive Caliber 2460 WT. The self-winding movement hums at a high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a (somewhat modest) 40-hour power reserve. Impressively, all indication are adjusted via the crown – no awkward push buttons here.

The new model bears the Hallmark of Geneva, and that quality extends all the way through to its easy-fit bracelets. Three comfortable options give the wearer more variety, and an ingenious system means they can be switched and secured in a snap, without using any tools.

Delivered right in time for summer travel, the stunning new Vacheron Constantin Overseas world time is set to be one of the brand’s hottest commodities this season.
