It’s time for round two. The young Swiss brand will launch its second Kickstarter campaign for a new watch inspired by the aesthetic code of the 1960s.

klokers came onto the watchmaking scene with a splash about two years ago. Its first Kickstarter campaign launched a new series of timepieces inspired by iconic objects of the past. The first was the 1970s inspired KLOK-01, a very successful timepiece that used three rotating concentric rings to display the time along a vertical red line.

Two years after the first release, the young Swiss brand is about to launch a second Kickstarter campaign for its next series, the KLOK-08. This time around, the timepiece is supposedly inspired by the 1960s aesthetic code, which is all about freedom and counter-culture.

The 60s were all about possibilities and disobeying conventions. And this watch is indeed non-conformist, especially when it comes to telling the time. The dial of KLOK-08 featuers two disks: one for hours and minutes, and one for seconds. Together, the two disks display the time on a vertical line at the top of the dial.

In another interesting move to counter watchmaking conventions, the disks actually turn counter-clockwise to indicate the time, all thanks to the Ronda quartz movement found within.

As with previous models, the KLOK-08 is essentially just a watch-head that can clip on and off on straps and accessories. All of that is achieved quite effortlessly thanks to the brand’s patented fixing system, making all of their products compatible and interchangeable.

That includes the option to pair it with a textile strap for a casual look, or a leather one for a bit more of a classic look. The watch head can also be attached to bags using the KWEL accessory, and even be used as a desk clock with the DESK&POCKET stand.

To begin with, the KLOK-08 will be made available on Kickstarter at an earlybird price of 149 euros. Three different versions will be up for grabs: white and rose gold, black and beige, and warm grey and orange. Each will be packaged in a nicely sized 39 mm stainless steel case.

Overall, I’m a fan of the design concept and the neo-retro styling, as I was with the brand’s first release. The only gripe I might have that is the new model is not all that distinct from the one that was on offer during the launch two years ago. But if you happened to miss out the first time, the KLOK-08 is a great opportunity to get your hands on a unique timekeeper.
