HYT Hastroid Supernova Blue: the new blue hour

Revamped independent brand HYT is expanding its Hastroid fleet with a long-awaited and truly contemporary blue version, revitalising and electrifying perceptions of this unconventional timepiece.

T

he colour blue – vibrant and calming in equal measure – is a versatile shade that conjures up images of both the unchanging beauty of the Earth, the “blue planet”, and the hypnotic power of the starry night sky, as well as the energy of electric engines of the future. It is not surprising, then, that Davide Cerrato, CEO and creative director of HYT, chose this colour with its multiple connotations and strong emotional aesthetic for the new Hastroid watch.

“We are engaged in the pursuit of brilliant craftsmanship, as part of our quest for flawless fluidic technology and mechanical complexity,” Davide Cerrato stated at the launch of the new Hastroid watch in January 2022. HYT also announced the development of a series of new colours. The Hastroid “Green Nebula” featuring the iconic green of the contemporary watchmaking brand was an immediate hit.

In keeping with the carefully constructed lines and proportions of the Hastroid, the Supernova Blue maintains the 48 mm diameter case, which has a total length of 58.3 mm and a thickness of 13.3 mm. The 72-hour power reserve and 352-piece hand-wound mechanical 501 CM calibre, which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), offers the Hastroid every resource for endless exploration.

This autumn, the Hastroid continues its transformation with a reinterpretation unveiled in the spring: the Moon Runner Supernova Blue. A name that suits the new Hastroid down to the ground. The blue fluid contained in the capillary that provides a retrograde display of the passing hours matches the blue central minute hand. They contrast with the glossy charcoal grey of the carbon and titanium case and the black of the dial, as well as with the honeycomb grid to which the hour numerals coated in Lumicast, a white luminescent material, are applied. The entire piece is enhanced by the colour of the embossed rubber and Alcantara strap. Only 27 of this extraordinary timepiece will be produced.
