Richard Mille Major Sponsor of the 2008 Le Mans Classic

Richard Mille will once again be the major sponsor and official timekeeper at the Le Mans Classic, on July 11, 12 and 13 2008. This fourth edition already seems set to be a key event for motor racing enthusiasts.

2002 : Richard Mille, who brought fine watchmaking into the 21st century, also took up the challenge of supporting the first edition of the Le Mans Classic, a retrospective of the Le Mans 24 hour-race.

This event was a huge success and takes place every two years.

On July 11, 12 and 13, Richard Mille will set the pace on and off the track as he will be actively participating in a Lola T70, entered in group 6. Richard Mille will also enter a Matra 660/670, which won the Paris 1000 km in 1971, with Sir Jack Brabham at the wheel –his last race-, accompanied by François Severt.

Since the brand was established in 2001, Richard Mille watches continue to represent the best in fine watchmaking appreciated by enthusiastic and demanding customers. The Le Mans Classic is an event that all motor racing enthusiasts will enjoy, each edition proving to be more successful that it’s predecessor.

The 2008 program includes: on the track, more than 400 cars -from 1923 to 1979 in 6 groups, including rare models like the Talbot 105, overall third in the 1931 race, the Delage D6 of Le Mans 1936 in group 1, the Maserati A6 GCS which took part in the 24 Hour race in 1954 and 1955 in group 2, the Aston Martin DBR1 which won in 1959 in group 3, the René Bonnet Aérodjet in group 4, the very original Howmet TX with turbine in group 5 and the super-powerful Porsche 935 in group 6; the Automobilia Village, for lovers of rare books, specialist magazines and motor racing exhibitions ; Le Mans Heritage Club who will be organizing a competition to find the best of 24 legendary cars such as the Porsche 956, the Lola T 280 HU1 and the Delahaye 135 S which, in their time, took part in the Le Mans 24 hour race; the Espace Clubs who will group together more than 6,000 cars into their respective categories. This year, 147 multi-constructor clubs and 86 individual constructor clubs will be represented, including Delahaye, Ferrari, Porsche, Bentley, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Maserati …

Finally, the 2008 Mans Classic is a Little Big Mans. For the first time, the group will allow children aged six to thirteen to participate at the wheel of a mini Bugatti, Ford GT 40 or Porsche 550, in a parade on Saturday around the Bugatti circuit and Sunday, in the heart of the Automobilia Village.
