Chronoswiss unveils steel versions of the praised Delphis

Inspired by the success of the Delphis Oracle presented at Watches and Wonders earlier this year, the Lucerne-based brand is unveiling two new versions in steel with superb hand-guilloché dials: the Paraiba and the Venture.

P

araiba and Venture: their names are bound to take you on a journey. These two colour-changing models extend the successful Delphis collection, launched to celebrate 40 years of high-end watchmaking at Chronoswiss. Limited to just 50 pieces each, the newest Chronoswiss steel models flawlessly combine ancient artisan craftsmanship with state-of-the-art design.

The new Delphis models build on the heritage of the Delphis Oracle, which caused a sensation at Watches and Wonders earlier this year with its breathtaking red gold fire enamel. Now, Chronoswiss takes the Delphis to new heights by incorporating a hand guilloche dial in a steel case, elevating the watch’s elegance and versatility.

Delphis Paraiba

With the all-new Paraiba, Chronoswiss continues to push boundaries one big step further. The Paraiba marks the introduction of the first steel model in the Delphis family with a stunning hand guilloché on a mesmerizing colour-changing domed surface. This exceptional timepiece, powered by the all-new manufacture movement, proves once more the unparalleled commitment to individuality and fine craftsmanship.

The name “Paraiba” might sound familiar to those following the latest models. The colour-changing dial has become a Chronoswiss signature and is inspired by the rare Brazilian gemstone. The mesmerizing colour transformation may transport you from the depths of the jungle to the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea in an instant. The CVD-coating comined with the guilloché pattern captures the essence of the Paraiba’s allure and takes the eye on a journey of wonder.

Unlike traditional flat dials, the Delphis Paraiba’s surface is curved, presenting a challenge that only a few master artisans can overcome. Crafted by the skilled “guillocheurs” at the Atelier Lucerne, the curved shape enhances the effect and creates a three- dimensional visual firework. This extraordinary technique, performed on a century-old machine, is a rare art that few watch brands can implement.

However, the show does not stop at the miraculous color change. With provocative ease, the retrograde minute floats over the dial, triggering the jumping hour at 12 o’clock. The small seconds continuously run on an UFO, hovering weightlessly above the anthracite-coloured base dial at 6 o’clock, showcasing the same craftsmanship found in the curved crescent moon above.

Maintaining the brand’s signature sculptural geometry, the modern mechanical timepiece creates a unique aesthetic. The sapphire glass on the back side reveals the new manufacture movement, Calibre C.6004 (in reference to the postcode of Atelier Chronoswiss in Lucerne!), featuring 37 rubies, 55 hours of power reserve, Cote de Geneve and a rotor made from tungsten – all ruthenium plated in dark grey, enhancing the overall elegance and sophistication of the Delphis Paraiba.

Delphis Venture

Looking at the “cousin” model Venture, one of the most striking details is the hand guilloché too, curved galvanic black half-moon, lending the piece its distinctive charm. Below, the ’UFO’ is CVD-coated in a sumptuous blue, providing a delightful contrast to the watch’s otherwise stealthy character.

The Delphis Venture continues to captivate with its retrograde minute display, gliding effortlessly across the dial and triggering the jumping hour at 12 o’clock. The small seconds are equally engaging, continuously ticking on a ’UFO’ suspended above the lower dial – maintaining the meticulous detail and mechanical focus for which Chronoswiss is renowned.

Drawing on the legacy of the Delphis Oracle, the Venture is a steel-cased marvel that showcases rare artistic skill and technical prowess. The sapphire crystal on the case back also offers a glimpse into the new manufacture movement, Calibre C.6004, featuring a 55-hour power reserve, a tungsten rotor, and a beautifully elegant, ruthenium-plated dark grey finish.
