Blancpain at the Monaco Yacht Show

October 2008

For almost a decade, Blancpain has associated its name with one of the most prestigious international yachting events. This special ongoing partnership with the Monaco Yacht Show is based on the historical ties binding the world’s oldest watch brand with the maritime world and with an art of living that is shared with sea-lovers the world over.

On this occasion, Blancpain had the immense honour of welcoming H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco aboard Over The Rainbow, the lovingly restored by the much-regretted Jean-Michel Folon. In the company of the sovereign, as well as that of Pierre Frolla and Gianluca Genoni – both of whom hold several world free diving records –Blancpain is signaling its support for an action dedicated to raising awareness of the marine environment among future generations.

Extremely sensitive to this worthy cause, Blancpain offers 50 children the chance to participate in a weeklong diving course taught by l’Ecole Bleue. Headed by free diver
Pierre Frolla, this Monaco-based association aims to educate the public and to raise awareness of the importance of coastal and underwater areas.

Setting the crowning touch to this day devoted to the passion for the sea, and in keeping with the custom established since its first participation in the Monaco Yacht Show, Blancpain presents its traditional limited edition specifically dedicated to the Principality. The Fifty Fathoms Flyback Chronograph is issued in an all-white world-exclusive version of just 20. This series of elegant chronographs proudly bears the Monaco coat-of-arms on its pristine white dial. Equally at ease below the sea as in the open air, this top-rate chronograph will delight sailing and water sports enthusiasts as well as collectors and connoisseurs of exceptional timepieces.
