Bruvik Svalbard Arctic Fjords marks a decade of evolution

The Norwegian brand’s new release, celebrating a decade of the Svalbard watch in its lineup, merges the very best elements from three prior models and draws inspiration from the Arctic fjords of the namesake archipelago, offering two dial versions for added versatility.

A

decade has passed since the first version of the Bruvik Svalbard model was presented at BaselWorld, once the world’s largest watch fair in Switzerland. Since 2014, the model has changed looks and sizes from a case diameter of 45mm in 2014 to 40mm in 2016 and 43mm in 2017. The model has been presented in various colours and bezel materials during this decade.

The original Svalbard watch had a rough acid and multidirectional brushed dial to illustrate the mountain sides of Svalbard. This time, the case body of the fjord model, the raised and dome sapphire crystal of the arctic model, and the dial and bezel parts from the Svalbard version have come together. The very best elements are picked from three watch models to celebrate ten years of the Svalbard model in the collection.

The model is made with inspiration from the arctic fjords on the archipelago Svalbard, and offers two dial versions. The wave dial is inspired by the four arctic oceans that stream into the fjords of Svalbard, and the radial engraved dial is inspired by the ice aged ice pattern that made the arctic fjords over 10,000 years ago.

ANNIVERSARY 160 by Ulysse Nardin

An adventurous and functional high-quality wristwatch ready to be worn and to explore the nature and urban destinations of the world’s corners together with its new quality and design made for the explorers.

The high-quality hand crafted and designed case have a sleek 41mm (D) brushed case with polished bevel, only 11.2mm thick (ex the raised dome sapphire) and 49mm lug to lug - with highly curved organic shaped lugs - for a perfect fit on any wrist.

The case back has etched map of the archipelago of Svalbard, engraved text with facts and is screwed down using the highly recognisable etched B shaped slope grips.

The 7mm slight coned easy grip screw lock down crown ensures easy and secure access to adjust the time, and when brown is screwed down into the case cylinder; it’s a perfect seal for water resistance down to two hundred meters depths, plenty for most of us.

The unidirectional matte ceramic bezel with an applied lume dot at 12, surrounds the raised and dome shape anti-scratching sapphire crystal. The crystal has several layers with anti-glare layers for less possible reflections, and best possible insight - in any conditions - to dial and hands.

Through the sapphire crystal in front you can dive down into the opening and there you’ll find a unique dial made to mimic the current of the Arctic oceans entering the Arctic fjords on Svalbard. The arctic fjords surrounded by mountain structures evolved after years and years, day and night, with wear and tear by the harsh cold arctic weather conditions.

These mountain sides are simulated in the dial surface by a special engraving and colouring technique expressing a unique structure. The dial has applied logo and applied steel color hour markers filled with Swiss Super-Luminova glowing up in the dark, along with the luminous hands. All these features for the best possible legibility and best possible display of time in any conditions.

The Swiss made automatic mechanical movement is a sturdy high-quality movement with a 56 hour power reserve and a +/- average of 5 seconds deviation per day.

The brushed 3 link steel bracelet will accommodate any wrist in the best comfortably way, and for a sportier outlook, there is a rubber strap with sailcloth inlay for a more rugged look and feel. It is like wearing a piece of the Svalbard Arctic fjords and a piece of Norway.
