Maurice Lacroix introduces the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe limited edition

Following its debut success in 2021, the Aikon Urban Tribe returns with a skeleton movement visible through the sapphire dial and case back. It’s encased in a lavishly engraved stainless steel frame, complemented by a matching bracelet, and nods to features of urban architecture.

O

nce again, Maurice Lacroix embraces the urban landscape and takes inspiration from those tall architectural buildings that endow a city with its unique skyline. Made from a variety of materials, beam-type structures confer strength while at the same time inviting light to bathe interior spaces. A couple of years ago, the brand from the Franches Montagnes, released the Aikon Urban Tribe, a model that swiftly sold out. Now, Maurice Lacroix is pleased to unveil another daring creation, subscribing to the Urban Tribe design, but presented in skeleton form.

In 2021, Maurice Lacroix released the Aikon Urban Tribe, a watch made for city dwellers that promptly sold out. Now, the Maison seeks to repeat this success with a new urban-themed timepiece, the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe. Once again, the styling celebrates urban architecture, but on this occasion, courtesy of its sapphire dial, reveals the intricate structure of the movement.

Maurice Lacroix worked closely with the movement specialist, Sellita to produce the exclusive Automatic ML115 (base SW200). Similar to some of the most interesting buildings, this movement plays with transparency, allowing light to pass through various openings, thereby illuminating a myriad of parts. The oscillating weight is customised and sports sandblasted and sunbrushed decoration. Furthermore, the movement is endowed with circular graining and colimaçon.

In terms of styling, the hour and minute hands are facetted and lined with Super-LumiNova®, while the dial is framed with luminescent indexes and a dark grey flange. Housed in a 39mm stainless steel case, the exterior of the Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe is laser engraved with an intricate motif. The various patterns have been inspired by the concrete, glass and steel structures which have come to define the avenues and boulevards populating the world’s most vibrant cities.

Fitted with an integrated bracelet, this new watch, in common with all Aikon models, proffers peerless wearer comfort. The timepiece is equipped with the company’s Easy Strap Exchange System, providing a simple, user-friendly means of swapping the strap for an alternative without the need for tools.

Stéphane Waser, Managing Director of Maurice Lacroix, remarks, “Back in 2021, when we released the Aikon Urban Tribe, the watch attracted much attention and soon sold out. Since then, we’ve received numerous requests for another Urban Tribe watch. The new Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe subscribes to the same non-conformist spirit, but goes further by employing a sapphire dial that reveals the intricately shaped skeleton movement. This is a watch made for city dwellers who love the excitement and noise of an urban landscape. It emulates the structures of tall buildings that showcase their many structural components, juxtaposing strength with airiness and transparency. Limited to 500 pieces, the new Aikon Skeleton Urban Tribe is wonderfully executed, has an impressive specification and upholds our reputation for delivering high perceived value.”
