Perrelet covers new ground

June 2008

Perrelet, relaunched only a few years ago, is going strong and ready to branch out to a new market - ladies mechanicals.
Marc Bernhardt, CEO, Perrelet, explains: "We only do automatic watches, for both men and women, and women's watches are about 15 percent of our total business. There is always a bit of a difficulty selling mechanical watches to women and I think we have found a way to combine a mechanical watch with a jewellery one.

DIAMOND FLOWER

“Our main novelty is a woman's model called the Diamond Flower,” he continues. “We are really hitting new ground for Perrelet as a company and for the industry, hoping that this becomes the trigger point to get women to appreciate mechanical watches, as it has a jewellery feature in it.”
The Diamond Flower uses Perrelet's unique double rotor, in a flower shape adorned with diamonds. The Diamond Flower is bigger than any other ladies watch Perrelet has done, 38mm watch to 32mm and 33mm, and it comes in various diamond treatments.

New booth, new space
Perrelet moved to Hall 1.1, with a two-story booth in BaselWorld. The stand had the theme of the new Diamond Flower, which is a departure for Perrelet, which has, in the past, highlighted its men's watches.
“We are still in a growth phase, opening up new distribution and new points of sale,” concludes Bernhardt. “We have strong new business, but it's good to see that our existing business built over the last two to three years also has a good foundation.”
