Microtor Cabriolet 2008: another bold new release from Universal GenÈve

On the occasion of BaselWorld 2008, Universal presents its Microtor Cabriolet, the first shaped timepiece (since the brand’s renewal) distinguished by a daring and contemporary spirit. Inspired by a legendary model invented and patented by the brand in 1928, the Microtor Cabriolet 2008 enables the wearer to completely turn over the case of his watch to protect it from shocks. This impressive timepiece houses the Microtor UG 101 movement with automatic winding by an off-centred micro-oscillating weight. The system works thanks to a case that is constructed on a rotating arbor that is fitted with two ball pawls that position the case correctly after it has pivoted 180 degrees, avoiding any risk of scratching inside of the carrier when closing the case. An ingenious technique that combines Universal GenÈve’s technical and design savoir-faire.
