Delaneau’s philosophy is not merely to be physically in the historic centre of Geneva, its aim is to exist within the very heart of those artistic traditions for which Geneva is world-renowned, preserving them for the future. Enamelling flourished and realized its zenith under the skilled hands of Genevan artists, and this is the historic tradition that forms the basis of the present 2005 series of Delaneau watches. True miniature enamel painting does not lend itself to the production of large series of watches since each piece is unique and requires the intimate touch and sensitivity of the human hand and eye during painting as well as the firing of each piece. The world of the enameller is filled with secrets and mystery that can only be revealed through time, experience and an inspirational place in which to work. For this reason a fully dedicated enamelling atelier has been founded within Delaneau for Dominique Baron and Béatrice Rougemont. Their patience and ability to create such miniature works of art allow us to see these ancient crafts with a vivid and exceptional freshness as if for the first time.

Madame Butterfly
Perhaps no other insect in the world loans itself so perfectly to depiction in miniature enamel painting as the butterfly. The combination of opaque, translucent and transparent enamel layers capture the lifelike essence of the butterfly so well that you are almost afraid they would fly away.
At first, the miniature is painted in a champlevé technique. It will then be delicately decorated with hand guilloché. Various different species have been chosen for their diverse colour combinations around which specially matching colours were chosen regarding the case materials and stone setting.
