Mariko Mori
Until the 27th January 2008, Aros is showing a special exhibition “Oneness” by the Japanese artist, Mariko Mori, which takes us on a spiritual voyage through space and time that combines the Asian culture and high-technological hardware.

It is an amazing universe that the viewer is being exposed to – a mixture of modern materialism balanced with roots in the spiritual, especially from the Zen philosophy. This is an exhibition that you must experience.

Obaku Harmony®
In connection with the Mariko Mori exhibition at Aros, the art boutique makes a special exhibition of the Obaku Harmony® watches, which have their roots in some of the same thoughts and concepts where the mixture of modern minimalist design is tied to the thoughts from Obaku Zen philosophy, where all the superfluous is discarded, and focus is on the essence in all aspects of life.

The designers
The watches are designed by Lau Liengård Ruge, Denmark and Christian Mikkelsen, resident in Hong Kong, both trained at the Aarhus school of architecture. Obaku Harmony® watches are a mixture of the rational Danish minimalist design traditions and finished off with the emotional values from the Asian Obaku Zen philosophy, thereby creating the Obaku minimalist design universe.

The Obaku logo is inspired by the calligraphic ‘circle of life’ symbol. The logo depicts the passing of time, and reminds us that every day is important. In all adverts for the watches, the statement “forget about time, let the moment rule” appears as a reminder to us all, to live our lives in the present.

Aros
Since the opening in 2004 of the new art museum in Aarhus, Aros has obtained international attention and acknowledgement, not only for their extensive and interesting permanent collection of art, but also for a large amount of special exhibition including world-renowned names as Rausenberg, Bill Viola, Paul McCarthy, Olafur Eliasson, Michael Kvium and many more. The exhibition with Mariko Mori runs until 27th January 2008.
