In an expected extension of its well-known collection, Certina has now chosen to take its watchmaking expertise one step further through the release of the new DS Podium Valgranges Automatic. The Swiss watchmaker's latest chronograph, the DS Podium Valgranges, underlines these rare and valuable principles, and boldly innovates, with a new timepiece whose outstanding outer dimensions reach beyond the commonplace.
It is a colossal 44 mm housing which contains a state-of-the-art ETA Valgranges Automatic Chronograph movement, specially designed for use in ample-cased watches and intended to bring together the highest technological qualities, including ruggedness and unwavering precision.
The new DS Podium Valgranges expresses cutting-edge sport-classical values in a pure, highly aesthetic form. Its satin-finished steel case carries a contrasting polished steel bezel with clear and bright tachymeter markings.
The sporty basic-black dial face is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating, on both sides of the glass. Chronograph timing is shown by red-coloured hands, large seconds, hours and minutes over round areas with delicately machined concentric circles. A silvery border highlights both the 3 and 6 o'clock positions. A transparent watch case back reveals the superb finesse and artistry of the exceptional Valgranges movement.
The DS Podium Automatic Chrono is available in different configurations. One model carries a stylish brown leather strap, while another version has light silvery chronograph counters, and a satin-finished solid stainless steel bracelet, for an even sportier note.
