De Grisogono keeps the date open

March 2009

de Grisogono

As easy to read as the time, the updated version of de Grisogono's Instrumento Grande Open Date leaves little to the imagination where the date is concerned.
The hour markers – with the exception of 3, 9 and 12 o’clock – have been removed leaving an open dial displaying two rather large discs with Arabic numerals that form the date.
The surprising blending of two circles intertwining within an 18 carat pink gold rectangular case give the Instrumento Grande Open Date a particularly unusual geometry and the harmonious curves, lines, angles and a stamped guillochÉ brass dial create a stunning, original, yet harmonious effect.
The current date appears in a transfer window at 6 o’clock, the large dauphine hands and bevelled arrow hour markers are coated in a Superluminova that matches the pink gold case.
The pink gold case measures an impressive 48.30 x 41.11 mm and there are sapphire crystals front and back. Equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement, this innovative timepiece is water-resistant to 30 metres and comes with a grained calfskin leather strap with a triple-folding colour-coordinated clasp.
There are four dial versions of the Instrumento Grande Open Date : brown with brown discs and white numerals; black with white discs and numerals; silvered with white discs and black numerals and black with white discs and black numerals and set with white baguette-cut diamonds.
