Luminox 20th Anniversary

April 2009

In 1989, the Luminox brand - Lumi for ‘Light’ and Nox for ‘Night’ - was founded in the USA, driven by a commitment to offer cutting-edge luminescence and readability in its line of high-performance sports watches.
Throughout the following 20 years, Luminox's direction has been confirmed and validated by the many elite military and law enforcement units that have adopted Luminox as standard equipment, like the Navy SEALs, Air Force and Navy pilots, SWAT teams, Search and Rescue Teams, Elite Helicopter Squads, firemen and others from around the world.
To help celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Luminox, president and chief designer Barry Cohen has created two special edition watches.

8800 ANNIVERSARY - F22 RAPTOR

Anniversary Editions
The new 8800 series is based on the Navy SEAL watch, introduced in 1994, which was the watch that made Luminox famous in the watch world. The Navy SEALs chose Luminox for the brand’s outstanding quality, readability and for the rugged and purposeful look. The 8800 uses the original Navy SEAL watch as a starting point and kicks it up a notch - the case, unidirectional ratcheting bezel and case back are made of high-tech moulded carbon-reinforced polymer, while the crystal is of highly scratch resistant, specially-hardened and tempered mineral glass. The double-gasket, push-in crown as well as the entire construction of the watch case guarantees water resistance to 200 metres.
The new 6300, a brand new version of the 6200, is available in stainless steel and features new dials.
Both the 44 mm 8800 and the 45 mm 6300 series are only available in Luminox’s 20th anniversary year, 2009.

F-22
As the exclusive timepiece licensee of plane manufacturer Lockheed-Martin, Luminox is this year introducing the F-22, a tribute to the F-22 Raptor Stealth Fighter. The new timepiece introduces styling cues taken directly from the airplane - the shape of the bezel and the centre link of the bracelet were directly influenced by the wings of the plane. In addition, the shape of the case reflects the body of the plane and the crown mimics the engines of the plane. Finally, the numbers, colours and style of the dial were inspired by the actual dashboard of the F-22. To make the watch stand out even more, the caseback features a detailed engraving of the F-22.

Cutting Edge Production by Mondaine
Luminox watches are 100% Swiss Made, produced by Luminox’s corporate partner, Mondaine Watch Company, a leader in Swiss manufacturing. Located in Zurich with manufacturing facilities in Biberist, Switzerland, Mondaine recently won a Swiss Logistics Award for its ‘just in time’ production. Mondaine applies all its years of experience when producing the complicated Luminox watches. In 2009, Mondaine will be moving into a much bigger, state of the art production facility featuring a dust free clean production room.
