At SIHH 2011, Van Cleef & Arpels presents a new model, the Poetic Complication® Five weeks in a balloon, inspired by the Jules Verne novel, Les Voyages Extraordinaires. The dial, decorated with champlevé enamel and inlaid with mother-of-pearl, depicts a hot air ballon rising into the air of Zanzibar.

The hours and minutes are indicated by the retograde movement of the balloon’s anchor and a bird in flight. Conceived by the vibrant imagination of Van Cleef & Arpels, the Poetic Complication watches reveal an original approach to High Watchmaking.
