The 2002 Swatch Special St. Valentine's… Cupid's Bow

The 2002 Swatch Special St. Valentine's… Cupid's Bow

Europa Star WorldWatchWeb, 1 February 2002

As folklore would have it… back in the old days… in the Third Century…a certain Emperor Claudius decided to put a ban on marriage believing that married men were weaker when called upon in demanding situations. After all, what man wants to leave his love nest? Enter, the Bishop Valentine. As Valentine disagreed with the Emperor, he bravely invited young lovers to tie the knot in secrecy as he officiated the ceremony. Eventually, he became a saint and changed his name to St. Valentine.

We've come a long way since 270 A.D. Nowadays…instead of heading off to Rome, two lovers can decide to head to Las Vegas for a more modern clandestine approach. However, the original message of the famed legendary Bishop St. Valentine remains: True love, a big red heart and the hopes of someone to share it with.

Maybe you are one of those independent types who prefer to gift yourself. Why not go for it with this on your wrist! The 2002 Swatch Special St. Valentine's Cupid's Bow will make every Romeo or Rose stand up and ask— What time is it?

Chopard's heart-felt celebration

The heart, a symbol of Chopard and of universal love, makes light of borders. To celebrate Valentine's Day, Chopard dresses pendants in 25 irresistible colours. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !
The Chopard heart features generously rounded, sensual curves. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, blue topazes, amethysts, citrines and many other gems form a firework display of sparkling colours.
Each Valentine's Day could be marked by a different colour. A year, a heart, a colour, a collection of love. A truly wonderful blend which, over the years, can combine to form the most sentimental of necklaces. The Chopard heart comes in a large variety of versions set with precious or semi-precious stones and a bow that may be set with white or black diamonds.
Rings, earrings, pendants worn as chokers, on a silk or satin cord or a gold chain: Chopard hearts will unite to celebrate the feast of love.

Piaget plays the queen of hearts

Purple, blue, red, green… The jeweller of hearts conveys love in all of its many shades by creating a special collection of Valentine's Day pendants. Thus interpreted by Piaget, the universal symbol becomes the expression of an intimate and original feeling that is supremely strong yet feather-light. Strong like the love of a woman, light as the air of time through which it delicately floats.

Elegantly outlining the shape of the jewellery, a line of diamonds forms a generous asymmetrical heart, lit up from within by a perfectly proportioned precious stone. Whether a diamond or a ruby, an emerald or a blue sapphire, the gem can be chosen in harmony with a special wish or feeling. In its purple version, it asserts a distinct taste for current trends…

With this youthful, contemporary jewellery, Piaget adorns itself with new tones. This pendant, which belongs to the Limelight collection, also comes in a smaller size. It is an entirely gem-set version without a central stone.

The master-jeweller has placed its signature on a slender, elegant creation that succeeds in giving it all its dimension.

Tiffany & Co designs rigns around Valentine's Day

Paired with the world's finest diamonds are vibrant pink sapphires and soft glowing rubies that reflect Tiffany's authority as the foremost resource for gemstones of exceptional color and clarity. Set in platinum or eighteen-karat gold, the range of colorful creations meets the desire for a ring with classi appeal, contemporary flair or pure feminine grace.
Though each ring conveys a singular and heartfelt message, all are created with the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship, the hallmarks of Tiffany & Co. for over eight generations. These uncompromising standards become clear with the presentation of the Tiffany Blue Box™, the international symbol of excellence that heightens the excitement of Valentine's Day and all of life's memorable occasions.

French-spirit.com is launching on January 15th 2002, a new creation contest, to celebrate the Valentin's Day. It will be an opportunity to communicate in the field of French creation, and to complete the E-mail address file, which is at the disposal of all partner jewellers.

The designers will display their creations, around the theme of love, with or without hearts, and the general public will elect on the web, the jewel which illustrates best the French style and its romanticism.

A first drawing of lots on February 14th 2002, the Valentin's day, and afterwards one drawing per week until March the 5th, will designate the winners of a superb designer jewel.

The sponsor designer, Isabelle Langlois, offers during this event, some magnificent open work pendants : the first one, which will be awarded on February 14th, is made of grey gold set with diamonds, the following ones are made of gold, for a total value of 3050 ¤ (20 000 FRF).

Ponce'or, Paris, presents a new personalised jewel for Valentine… on which a very special message can be engraved:

pendant in yellow or white gold, 195.90 euros

pendant in yellow or white gold with one diamond, 233.70 euros
