WC Schaffhausen adds two new references with an eye-catching green design to the Portugieser family. For the first time, the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 and the Portugieser Automatic 40 feature dark green dials with a sunray finish, on matching green alligator leather straps.

In 2020, IWC introduced a Portugieser model with the perpetual calendar in a more compact 42-millimetre case. The new Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 (Ref. IW344207) features a dark green dial with a sunray finish and rhodium-plated hands and appliqués. This specific green hue results from a very elaborate manufacturing process, ensuring a rich, deep colour. The watch is fitted on a matching green alligator leather strap from the Italian shoe manufacturer Santoni with a folding clasp.

At work inside the stainless steel case is the IWC-manufactured 82650 calibre with Pellaton winding system and components made of virtually wear-free zirconium oxide ceramic. The movement with a power reserve of 60 hours is visible through the sapphire glass case back. IWC’s legendary perpetual calendar was initially developed by former head watchmaker Kurt Klaus in the 1980s. The mechanical program automatically recognises the different lengths of the months and the leap years and needs no manual adjustment until 2100. In addition, the perpetual moon phase display is so precise that it only deviates from the orbit of Earth’s satellite by one day every 577.5 years.

The design of the Portugieser Automatic 40 with the characteristic railway track minute scale and the small seconds at 6 o’clock was inspired by the iconic Reference 325 from the late 1930s. The new Portugieser Automatic 40 (Ref. IW358310) also features a rich dark green dial with a sunray finish, and rhodium-plated hands and appliqués. This elegant Portugieser is fitted on a matching green alligator leather strap with a butterfly folding clasp.

The timepiece with a 40-millimeter stainless steel case is powered by the IWC-manufactured 82200 calibre. The Pellaton winding system with ceramic components accumulates a reliable power reserve of 60 hours. A sapphire case back allows the owner to admire the elaborately finished movement.
