Dear Friends & Clients of the Roger W. Smith workshop,

Having spent the best part of a decade teaching himself the necessary skills involved in the creations of a completely handmade pocket watch with the assistance of George Daniels’s book ‘Watchmaking’, Roger felt that a visual addition to this great book would be of benefit and perhaps be a useful educational tool for current and future students of English horology. Therefore we are pleased to announce the launch of our dedicated video channel on YouTube.

Currently there are 5 playlists which can be found by clicking on each of the titles below:

Watchmaking techniques - Finishing a set of hands - In this, the first of his watchmaking technique videos, Roger describes the process of finishing a set of hands for one of his Series 2 wristwatches in a series of 10 consecutive detailed videos. We think that you will be surprised to find out how much work goes into even this one small part of creating a truly handmade watch. Over time, Roger intends to create videos explaining bespoke case making, dial making and many other of the hand finishing techniques.
