Family-owned German watch brand Junghans recorded a 23 per cent growth in sales to 22 million euros last year. Mechanical watches, including the Erhard Junghans, Meister, max bill by Junghans and Bogner by Junghans collections, produced by the Schramberg-based company accounted for 60 per cent of sales. The growth also led to an increase in staff to 122, with further additions planned for 2013.

For 2013 Junghans is placing the focus on its classic Meister collection, which will be extended with new Meister Agenda and Meister Kalender complications, a limited-edition Meister Chronometer in gold and a new Meister collection for ladies.

In the press release announcing its results, Junghans also hints at the first negative consequences of the brand’s success, citing an increased need to protect its intellectual property, with its initial efforts in this area already having brought their first success.
