Presentation of the 26th International Watch Marketing Day

The theme of the 2022 edition is the “eternality” of the watch, a broad topic of reflection ranging from the relationship to astronomical time to the immediacy of everyday life and from the eternal passion for mechanical watches to manufacturing processes that are increasingly environmentally friendly. Discover the programme of this event which will take place on 17 November 2022 in Neuchâtel.

T

he next edition of the International Watch Marketing Day will be held on November 17, 2022 at the HEG Arc School of Management in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in person or via streaming (with simultaneous translation into English). The theme is the “eternality” of the watch.

What is “eternality”? The proposed concept integrates notions that are both recent and concrete, such as obsolescence, and others that are irrational and intimate, such as a person’s lasting attachment to his or her timepiece. This is a deliberately broad theme that can be approached from various complementary aspects:

  • The relationship of the watch to astronomical time versus the immediacy of everyday life
  • The eternal passion for watchmaking
  • The durability of repairable mechanical watches compared to the obsolescence of connected watches
  • Environmentally friendly materials, components and manufacturing processes
  • The responses of brands, manufacturers and co-contractors to meet the growing demand of end customers for sustainable and recyclable product.

For more than 25 years, the success of the JIMH has been due to the quality of the exchanges between moderators and guests. Together, they are keen to share their experiences and defend their points of view without taboos, which has been the hallmark of the event since its creation.

Speakers at this 26th JIMH include Jean-Claude Biver (JC Biver watches), Suren Erkman (EPFL), Liselotte Thuring (Panatere), Diana Cullilas (Swiss Better Gold Association) and Vicken Bayramian (Cryptolex).
