Eberhard & Co. Scafograf 300 MCMLIX: unveiling a new dial

The new brown gradient dial gives this diver’s watch a warm tone, making it ideal for everyday use.

T

he Scafograf collection was created by Eberhard & Co. in the 1950s, an era of technical research and innovation. The brand decided to take up a challenge that has always fascinated people: the sea and its mysterious depths. The collection, comprising steel watches with a depth rating of 1,000 metres, has been enriched and updated over the years.

The contemporary version of the Scafograf 300 was launched in 2016 and shortly afterwards received the GPHG prize for the best sports watch of the year. One of the main reasons for the success of the Scafograf is its versatility and the ease with which it can move from the depths of the ocean to the very different challenges of urban life, making it perfect for all occasions.

The Scafograf 300 MCMLIX displays a distinctive vintage look, while incorporating the main features required for a diver's watch: a self-winding mechanical movement, with a steel case water-resistant to 300 m, a ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel with luminescent markings on the first 15-minute scale, a curved sapphire crystal and a helium escape valve at 9 o'clock.

Following versions with black, blue and green dials, 2023 sees the launch of a warm graduated brown, combined with a ceramic bezel in the same colour. Of note are the applied round indices and triangle-shaped markers at 6-9-12 o’clock, with vintage luminescence and 4N golden profile, as well at the applied 4N golden rectangular date at 3 o’clock.

In addition to the leather strap, the new model is also available with a Chassis® steel bracelet and a 2CLICK® two-button clasp that protects against accidental opening. The clasp is personalised with an embossed “E” shield, also revealed on the custom design of the inner blades. As a final touch, the steel caseback is engraved with a starfish, which has always been the emblem of this iconic collection.

Price: CHF 3,040 (with leather strap), CHF 3,920 (with steel bracelet)
