The Night Birds of Villemont

Villemont

We all know the Big Bang All Black by Hublot, which was the first watch to sport an all black on black case. Well, now other birds of the night are taking flight, namely the Night Hawks by Villemont.
Very lovely timepieces, these watches have a strong identity and character, and feature a very ‘contemporary’ (also the name of the collection to which they belong) case that is both technical—titanium with a black diamond coating—and aesthetic with its high degree of finishing and the fact that it lends itself well to various types of stone setting.
The most nocturnal and the most chic—even if not the most readable—of the Night Hawk line is certainly the version set with black diamonds in a baguette or brilliant cut, and mounted on a natural black rubber bracelet decorated with the ‘Clou de Villemont’ pattern. It evokes a form of ‘understatement’ that is paradoxically superlative.
Other versions of the collection feature white baguette or brilliant diamonds, or even rows of the most beautiful rubies.
But, while the Night Hawks are superb night jewels, they are also fine watch instruments. Equipped with an automatic winding Calibre VM07, they feature the date in a window and a 48-hour power reserve. The transparent sapphire caseback lets the viewer admire the very traditional decoration (pearled bridges, blued screws) that underscores the contrast with a very contemporary black oscillating weight.
