Bell & Ross made a big impression with its BR 01 Instrument in the form of a replica of an aircraft cockpit. The shape was new, unlike anything in wristwatches up to that time, and had a strong identity in keeping with the DNA of the brand. But the BR 01 also had a ‘small’ disadvantage—its size. The ‘instrument’s’ large 46mm diameter was perhaps a little too imposing to be worn easily, even in this day and age of over-sized timepieces.
So, the brand has now introduced its BR 03 Instrument. Even with the smaller diameter of 42mm, it is still a very impressive timekeeper yet has the advantage of being easier to wear. Bell & Ross is making them available in several versions that demonstrate the flexibility of this very pronounced design.
The BR 03-51 GMT Titanium Instrument is a high-tech model for travellers, with a second time zone and a large date. Its optimal readability lets the wearer instantaneously see the two time indications that are very clearly pos-itioned with regards to each other. Carved from brushed polished titanium, it is ultra lightweight and features a carbon fibre dial that emphasizes the technical nature of the watch.
The same qualities of readability and clarity are also found in the steel BR 03-94 Black & White, equipped with an automatic chronograph. The play of the white against the black offers a nice contrast, while the different colours of the two small dials of the chronograph make the brand’s chronographs the most easily readable on the market.
Last but not least, the BR 03-92 Military responds, as its name indicates, to the strict specifications required by professional watches. It is robust, precise, and readable by night as by day.
