liver Gallaugher is a British designer, inspired by the creative and enterprising spirit of his family (read our previous article here). His grandfather Guy was a mechanical engineer and inventor. His father John worked as a decorative artist, with a meticulous eye for detail and finishing, and his mother is a writer and artist, guided by intuition and imagination.

Together they shaped his fascination with mechanics, finishing, and artistry - a combination that evolved into a great appreciation for watches and a desire to create designs never seen before. After a decade-long journey of discovery, O.G launched in 2023 with its first watch series: Deep Space. The brand collaborates with watchmakers, manufacturers, and artisans around the world to develop original watches with an emphasis on invention, decoration and theme.

The dial of the Deep Space Blue creates a dynamic visual effect. As the watch moves, the dial channels light diagonally, causing a constellation of stars to flash and fade across a deep blue. This effect is achieved through a combination of decorative techniques: fine brushing, applying a blue lacquer, precision engraving and rhodium galvanisation. The O.G mark is pad printed in white to match the hand tips and minute ring. Every dial is engraved with its own pattern of stars, making each Deep Space Blue watch unique.

The LTM5000-G is the second O.G movement, named after the founder’s grandfather Guy, an inventor and engineer. Made in collaboration with LTM SA in Fleurier, Switzerland, the LTM5000-G is an exclusive design and specification developed for O.G.

Its semi-skeletonised assembly features custom decorations, such as the snail-brushed anchor bridge and larger Geneva stripes that were specially developed for this calibre. Other finishing includes sandblasting and Perlage patterning on the mainplate, circular brushing on the barrel and gear train, as well as mirror polished steel components and bridge chamfers.

Measuring 30mm in diameter and just 3.3mm thin, this manually wound calibre achieves a 60 hours power reserve, with a variable inertia balance wheel beating at 4hz (28,800 bph), for precise timing adjustment.

The Deep Space Blue’s case is made of 904L steel, giving it a cool tone and an exceptional brightness, enhancing the vibrancy of each blue dial.

The shape of the case is classical, but refined with a modern style that highlights its fluid curves through polished and sandblasted finishes. Constructed from three pieces, in a compact size of 38mm x 8.8mm, and with a lug- to-lug width of just 44mm, it wears comfortably on any wrist. The individual case number out of 35 is engraved on the back side of the left lug.

The minute track is separate from the dial and created through the highly technical challenge of engraving its shape into the front sapphire crystal - a material almost as hard as diamond. Once cut, it’s filled with a mixture of Grade X1 Super-LumiNova to achieve a seamless integration of two entirely different materials. A complex process to achieve the ultimate simplicity.

In daylight a crisp white minute track floats above the dial, casting a shadow reminiscent of a sundial - the first device used to measure time through light. In darkness, it transforms to a glowing blue, carrying time’s story from its beginnings into the present and beyond.

The hour and minute hands of the Deep Space Blue are made using a modular construction - an original design, merging two materials with entirely different properties into one homogeneous form.

Like the case and buckle, the larger sections of the hands are crafted from pure 904L steel - a world’s first in watchmaking. Their top surfaces are curved and mirror-polished, concealing the movement’s centre pinion and bending light to create shifting reflections.

The tips of the hands are moulded from a special composite of ceramic powder and Grade X1 Super-LumiNova, which connect to the steel sections to form a precise luminous point. The exact glow of the tips is finely calibrated to match the glow of the minute track embedded within the sapphire - a demanding challenge, as both applications of Super-LumiNova differ in composition.

The buckle continues the design language of the Deep Space Blue - shaped from 904L steel with polished facets and sandblasted surfaces that mirror the case’s finish.

The Deep Space Blue comes with two unique straps, handmade to size, and each with their own buckle: Beyond Blue - navy Alcantara, light blue stitching and black calf lining. And Into Grey - grey Alcantara, grey stitching and navy calf lining.

Deep Space Blue is delivered in a polished metallic sphere.

Push its glowing button and it opens to reveal a watch from beyond - bringing a unique fusion of artistry and mechanical technology.
