Christie's May sale realised the highest ever total for a watch auction at Christie's. Competitive bidding from a busy saleroom, 230 telephone bidders and a number of clients from 42 countries using Christie's LIVE, resulted in the record total of SFr. 25,039,680, a 55.9% increase on the corresponding sale in May 2006 (SFr. 16.059.180), clearly showing that Christie’s is the market leader and most recognized auction house in this market. The buyers at today's sale were 65% European, 17,5% American and 15% Asian, illustrating the growing international appeal.

The top lot was the very unique and rare Patek Philippe which sold for SFr.2,736,000 setting a new record for any watch sold at Christie's.
